A Slice of Heaven

Vacation is a great thing, especially staycations when you can just chill, relax, and hang out. I got to read several books and here’s another one I just finished. When is your best time to read? When do you get in all your reading? For me, it’s not during the hustle and bustle of life, but when I can sit and just focus on reading. Sometimes it’s also easier for me to read e-books in those moments when its easily accessible.

This book that I finished is the second book in the Sweet Magnolias series. I read the first one a while back (after I watched the Netflix series), and it had me hooked. You know I’m a sucker for a series. There’s just something about following people’s lives and their drama rather than my own! So we follow the three friends, Maddie, Dana Sue, and Helen who have just opened their Corner Spa in Serenity, SC. This book follows Dana Sue’s book a little more. Dana Sue’s daughter, Annie, struggles with some eating issues and it comes out that she has anorexia. She is hospitalized for some time and in that process, her dad returns to Serenity. Annie tries to get her parents together and Woods details their rekindled love that never actually ended. The first book ends with a wedding and so does the second. Find out who ties the knot this time!

What are your favorite kinds of books? Stand-alone’s? Series? Self-help? I try to dabble in a little bit of everything, but really enjoy series. I gave “A Slice of Heaven” 5 stars and can’t wait to see what’s next in Serenity! Don’t forget to check out the show too! That leads to my next question, do you read the book first and then watch the TV or Movie or vice versa? I prefer reading first and then watching…I like to satisfy my own imagination before someone places their’s on me!
