Let’s talk about…psychological thrillers

Psychological thrillers. What can you say about them? Several words that come to mind are suspense, twists, turns, thrilling, unpredictable, surprises. What are some words you might add to that list when you think of this genre.

This is a newer genre in my repertoire of reading. Usually, it’s a typical murder mystery and I’m satisfied, but lately this has come my newer favorite genre. I’ve learned that I like the thrill of the chase of a surprise ending.

Are You Sleeping?/Truth Be Told, Behind Closed Doors, Turn of the Key and The Last Thing He Told Me are some of the noteworthy one’s I’ve read more recently that stand out. These are the books I’m blowing through and wanting more content. Here’s my downfall….I. Want. More. These are the books that just end, and I really struggle with this type of ending. I get so enmeshed in the lives of these characters, and I really grow to love and care about them. I just want…I just need…MORE!

Here are some questions to ponder: Do you like to be kept guessing or is predictability a requirement in a book for you? Do you mind mind-blowing twist and turns or is it too emotionally taxing in your reads? Do the twist and turns make too much of a direct left rather than a curvy road for you? Tell me how you feel about psychological thrillers?
