The Ex Hex

by Erin Sterling

Okay, so if you like Halloween, magic, fantasy and mystery altogether this one is for you. I enjoyed it once I got into it, but it was a struggle for me to into and I’m not sure why. I also typically have at least two books going at the same time, so that might be problematic too.

Vivi is a witch from a long line of witches and they have to catch a ghost and break a curse. At the same time, she falls in love with a man from a rival family on whom the curse is that needs breaking, Rhys. We learn about them capturing the ghost into a candle and then releasing the ghost who informs them of the curse. Then Vivi has to break the curse by herself to save the Penhallow family, including the love of her life, Rhys. She saves them and he moves back home to tell his father of what has happened. He returns to Georgia because they are in love with one another from a young age.

Overall, I gave it four stars because I struggled to follow, but I think that’s on me. It was a fast read and easy read (for the most part). What are your favorite Halloween reads? Do you like scary or magical? Terrifying or mystical?
