by Ali Hazelwood

What a cute novel! If you like some academia and some romance, this is the book for you. I’ve never read any of Hazelwood’s novels, but am now curious.
Olive is a PhD student who wants to allow her best friend to date her ex-boyfriends, so she facilitates a kiss with a professor, Dr. Adam Carlsen. Adam and Olive then arrange a fake dating scheme to prove to the university that Adam is staying and that Olive has moved on from her ex. Through their “fake dates,” Olive learns that she is actually falling in love with Adam and apparently Adam has had the hots for her since before she was a student. Olive is also trying to find a lab to help with her dissertation and research, and coincidently gets in contact with one of Adam’s best friends, who turns out to be a creep. Olive and Adam’s relationship blossoms.
This is five star book for me. If you don’t mind some academia language and science jargon alongside a romance novel, this is the book for you. What makes a good romance for you? Is it important to have some comedic relief also? What is too cheesy for you?
