What a great book! This is the first in a trilogy, and it did not disappoint. I can’t wait to read another one of these! We are introduced to Sawyer who is a newbie journalist who gets called out to fill in as a photographer on a crime scene for a homicide. She swindles herself into the apartment building and gets some great photos.

As she’s leaving, she is informed that her Grandma Sally passed away, so she must return to her hometown of River Rock for the services. She gets promoted in the crime reporting section of the newspaper and convinces her new boss that she can use her time back home to work as well as for the funeral…there were several murders years ago that went unsolved and rocked the small town; he agrees.

While she’s there, strange things start to happen and there is another murder. Sawyer tries to investigate, and gets herself into trouble. She discovers some sinister truths about her parents and that makes this trip even more scary. Her sisters come to her rescue and they learn all the truths.

If you want a thriller that keeps you on your toes, this one is it. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it! I can’t wait to read the rest of the series, but even as a stand alone, it leaves you wanting more!
