Whisper Network

by Chandler Baker

I thought this one was a bit of a flop, readers. You can try to convince me differently of course. I’m not a huge fan of super politicized and charged books. I read for fun to escape the rawness of real life folks, not to be fired up and angry about a cause necessarily. Now, that doesn’t mean I won’t read to grow or learn more about a particular cause, but I don’t want my fiction to make me angry.

We have four women who work together: Sloane, Grace, Ardie, and Katherine. They each have had some sort of experience or situation with the up and coming CEO Ames Garrett. When he is found dead from an apparently suspicious suicide, it comes out that maybe one of them killed him. The storyline is about each of their personal life hardships and their professional struggles in the scheme of being women in the workplace.

Like I said, if you’re a reader who doesn’t mind, in fact, enjoys some conflict and women’s lib stuff, then this book might be for you. If you’re looking for a light read, this one isn’t it. I gave it three stars.

What do you look for in a fiction novel? Do you gravitate toward one type of story line over another or do you not mind what the subject matter is? Give me your feedback!
