What can I say? I have grown a true appreciation and love for Ms. Reid’s style of writing. And the fact that she can tie them all together so simply is amazing to me.

Remember The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo from Episode 2 of Season 3 of the podcast? Well, Reid refers to some of those characters in talking about the background of the Riva family and how they became so famous.

Nina, Jay, Hud, and Kit are siblings who had to sort of raise themselves after their famous rock star dad abandons them and their mother tragically dies. Nora hosts an annual end of summer party that is a large part of the story. This story is full of complex storytelling and character/relationship development. Each character has inner struggles and demons and each character works hard to get past them.

Remember Carrie Soto? She makes quite the appearance here as well! You must read this one if you haven’t already. I love the way the author intertwines the past with the present and is able to tell many stories in one without losing the reader in all the complexity. I love being right there emotionally with the characters and man, are we there with them at several points.

I really have enjoyed Taylor Jenkins Reid and look forward to the other books I haven’t read and what’s to come from her pen in the future!
