Let’s talk about…when your favorite series turns tv show

That’s right folks. My favorite series, Kay Scarpetta by Patricia Cornwell, is in negotiations with Amazon for a tv series. Scarpetta is a medical examiner based out of Richmond VA who helps solve crimes with her eventual husband Detective Benton Wesley.

I love this series for many reasons. One of them is I love the research Cornwell puts into her books. I’m a sucker for the factual data threaded through a fictional story. Another reason is the geographical connection. Scarpetta has connections to Boston (my hometown) and obviously Richmond (my current city). I love the historical features she includes. Should I go on?

The story line is excellent too, and always keeps you guessing. Cornwell has 26 so far and still counting (I hope). I’m excited (and scared) for this new TV series. Apparently it will feature Nicole Kidman (as Scarpetta) and Jamie Lee Curtis (as her sister Dorothy). We’ve been waiting years for this and so I’m hopeful!

They’ve attempted at my other favorite series, Alex Cross by James Patterson but they’ve been independent movies. Morgan Freeman is THE best Alex Cross; then again, isn’t he great at everything he does?

What has been your favorite converted series or book? Do you have one in production or in negotiations?
