by B.A. Paris

B.A. Paris is one of the best psychological thriller writers I’ve read; however, this one was a little bit of a dud for me. It had me captivated the whole book and then just fell at the end.
Alice is a young woman who translates books for a living, and her partner Leo and her have just moved in together in London. Alice finds out that there is a bad history with this house that Leo was aware of upon buying the house, and Alice becomes undone with figuring out the truth.
Alice is haunted by the memory of her sister Nina who was killed in a car accident, and Nina, the former owner of the house who was murdered gruesomely. She tries to befriend people in the neighborhood to find out information as well as try to settle in. When she learns that Leo has lied several times about things, she becomes even more unsettled and decides this is the end.
We do find out the truth about who murdered Nina, and some of Alice’s truths; it just falls a little flat in my opinion. Definitely check it out, especially you want an easy page-turner. Like I said, it kept me captivated the whole way through, and then then end just fell flat. Four stars from me, because it was still a great story!
