What draws you to a book cover? That then entices you to pick it up? Then to read the back cover and take it home? Is it a book with an ominous book cover? Is it a the kind of book cover with a beach scene? Is it the cartoon-like depictions on book covers?

There are so many types of book covers that entice different types of books. Of course, I like fiction novels so I’m typically drawn to book covers that are more ominous or mysterious, that’s what draws me in. But! If I’m in the mood for a romance, I don’t mind the more cartoon looking book covers.

Have you ever bought a book based solely on the cover? When I am trying to pick books from NetGalley.com, sometimes I picked first based on the cover and then secondly based on the book description.

Book covers are a staple of books, even in the ebook versions, they begin the journey you’re about to take with the characters and the plot that the author has chosen to take us as readers on…its the preview to the movie, the advertisement for the product, the taste test to your favorite dish.

My challenge to you, readers, is when you’re in the bookstore or Kindle shop and trying to find the next best story you dive into, choose it based solely on the book cover. I promise you, you won’t be disappointed.
