by Emily Henry

I read this one while on family vacation at the beach and it didn’t disappoint. While the title suggests that it is a beach read, it really only is in the sense that it is a cute non-complicated romance fiction novel, but the beach isn’t really part of it or at least an intricate part of it.
January is an author who needs to get away from her complicated life to finish her deadline on her next romance novel. She moves into her late dad’s lake house which has a lot of emotions involved in the hopes of cleaning it out, having a space to write and selling it for cash for her survival. She finds out her arch-nemesis, Augustus Everett, actually lives next door.
Come to find out, January and Gus have a lot more in common and decide to set a wager on their next book and that they have to teach each other’s genre. In this process, January and Gus are not just teacher-student to one another, but their flame for one another grows.
I wish I knew more after what happens but its my own selfish desire to keep the book going forever. I gave it a 5 star review. Emily Henry is one of my faves lately. What about you? I’ve heard some mixed reviews on this one, but it was a winner for me.
