Best Friends Forever

by Jennifer Weiner

Well, I had high hopes for this one because I like Jennifer Weiner’s books, but this one was kind of a let-down. It just never really went anywhere. I had moments where I thought it was a crime book and others when I thought this was going to be a heartfelt rom-com with two friends; neither delivered.

Valerie and Addie are best friends from high school who separated just after high school ended. It’s time for their high school reunion and Valerie suddenly shows up on Addie’s doorstep with a crisis. Addie lets her in and tries to help her, but they end up on a wild goose trip.

Jordan Novick is the chief of police and gets the case of missing Dan Swansea, when he starts looking for Valerie and Addie. He finds them in Florida and finds out the truth, which is less exciting than he was expecting.

There is an element of a romance, where Jordan and Addie fall in love, but it is a side note and not developed. Again, I thought this was a lot of flop. I initially gave this four stars, but the more I think about it, I think it deserves a 3 star review.
