Do you take time out specifically to read at the holidays? Do you hibernate in a corner and read while the rest of the family fights over Jenga or some other family-friendly game? I know I am.
This Thanksgiving is pretty low key for us since Ronnie had surgery, so we just have to be there at a certain time with soda in hand. I had already planned to read quite a lot, so most of my day will be reading. I also make sure I have a book on my phone to dive into if I get bored and am by myself. I feel like it’s more subtle and socially acceptable versus bringing a book.
As for Christmas, this one used to be a big time for me to read but since having my own family, it’s a little more chaotic. I usually ask for at least one book for Christmas. When I was growing up, we would have reading/nap time (you did whichever you chose) in between dinner and dinner waiting for dessert guests to arrive.
How do you plan your reading around such a busy time of year? Do you listen to audiobooks while stuck in Christmas shopping traffic? Carry a book at all times or have an ebook at the ready? I’d love to hear how you guys incorporate your reading into your hooray traditions!
