by Moshe Kasher
This was an interesting read, though I didn’t technically read it. I got it from Audiobook. If you listen to Mayim Bialik’s podcast, “Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown” (https://www.bialikbreakdown.com/episodes), you might have heard Moshe Kasher on it. This was a recommended read from that episode, and the library had it on audiobook, so I went for it. Kasher narrates his own story and its fascinating.
You learn about his life as a hearing child of two deaf parents and how he fell into drugs, legal troubles and other issues before turning things around and becoming the comedian that he is now. If you’re not that into autobiographies, like me, this is definitely one to stray towards to get into it. If you have a reading challenge checklist and need to fulfill biography/autobiography, I would definitely recommend Kasher’s book.
I laughed, I cringed, I felt for him, and I was intrigued. You can also go through all these emotions if you dive into this one. I gave it a five-star rating because it is very interesting, well-written and the title is just genius to me! If you’re a reader, you’re familiar with the Catcher in the Rye reference, and he makes a connection to the book as one of the only things he connected to in school.
Try diving into this one and you won’t be disappointed.
