by Jennette McCurdy

I read this as an audiobook which was a great choice from my cousin Erica’s recommendation. (Thanks, Erica). I had been thinking about it because the title intrigued me, but she solidified when she said it was a great read/listen. I usually don’t opt for the audiobook option but I do really well listening to memoirs, autobiographies and biographies than reading them, especially when the author reads it themselves.
McCurdy discusses her life in show business at a young age and being encouraged, and at some rate unhealthily so, by her mother. McCurdy dives into the tresses of her personal life and the struggles with mental health, eating disorder, and grief throughout the book.
This should have a trigger warning for eating disorders. If that doesn’t bother you or its not a trigger for you, this book is a definite must read of the year. Though I was not super familiar with her work, I was intrigued by her insight, her transparence, and her grace to tell a good story. So go ahead, pick it up. I gave it 5 stars.
