I absolutely love this series. Its one of my favorites, and Patricia Cornwell is one of my favorite authors. I have been slacking on working on this series, so this is number 25. As always, it did not disappoint and I would give it a 5-star review.

Kay Scarpetta is a medical examiner who in this installation has returned to Virginia to become the chief medical examiner in place of her rival who is now the health commissioner. She is only on the job for a couple of days before a mysterious murder comes across her desk. She enlists her now brother-in-law favorite investigator, Marino, to help her investigate the murder. In the process, Kay is poisoned and now has to figure out how this happened with all the protocols and safeguards they all have.

Read for more details. It keeps you guessing and wondering who did it! Cornwell is consistently releasing books in the Scarpetta series so either start now to catch up or you can read them separately. Cornwell does a good job of keeping you up to speed so you can read them out of order or independently; its jut not as fun.
