This is the second installment of the Sisterhood series. If you’ve watched the movies, this would be like the second movie. But like most books turned movies, the book was slightly different.

This is a year after the first book takes place and the girls are setting out for different adventures during the summer. The reader travels with the girls (and the pants) through life’s many tests and triumphs.

Tibby, Bridget, Carmen and Lena are a group of four girls whose mothers were all due around the same time and in the same class, so the girls end up being best friends as well. Brashares dives into female adolescence through the eyes of these four girls, and it is truly wonderful. I love these books and am excited to read the rest of the series.

I read these pretty quickly. If you like the movies, you’ll fall in the love with the books even more. I highly recommend the series even though its a little on the older side (this one was published in 2003), but its still relevant for what girls go through in their teens. From family tragedies, to hard breakups, we are able to work through life’s difficulties with the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants!
