What an interesting book. I had never read a book by this author before and definitely would love to read more.

Hannah is a 16 year old girl celebrating her sweet sixteen by having a couple of girl friends over for a sleepover. They conspire to bring alcohol and pills to the party and end up inviting some guys. Hannah is trying to get in with the “in-crowd” and appease the popular girl, Lauren.

Something tragic happens to Hannah’s best friend and she gets seriously injured, it is life changing. Hannah’s parents are being held responsible by the girl’s mother in a civil lawsuit. What a mess. Meanwhile, Ronni (the injured friend) suffers a lot of bullying and mean behavior from her previous friends.

This book explores the social repercussions of teenage angst, exploration and parental responsibility. I highly recommend this book. This is a trigger warning for drinking and suicide.
